Goss says it will focus attention at the JANPS show (Tokyo, November 24-27) on its new Newsliner 4x1 and Magnum 4 presses.

President and general manager of Goss Japan Kazuhiko Yasuzawa says newspapers in the country are known for their very high circulation and subscriber rates: “While this makes high performance a must, in the face of stiff competition from other media, printers and publishers are also focusing more and more on premium quality and flexible product formats to attract new, younger readership," he says.

The 80,000 cph Newsliner 4x1 is manufactured in Sayama, Japan, and is available with DigiRail digital inking or standard open fountain inking and features a shaftless drive system. Its format offers plate and cost-saving advantages for publishers requiring multi-edition products.

Plate cylinders were redesigned for the Newsliner 4x1 press to reduce deflection and thereby improve registration and print quality.
