Interest from rural newspapers in New Zealand has followed the news that Fujifilm is installing its first Screen Truepress Jet 520 inkjet web into the country. Juergen Krufczyk, graphic systems general manager of Fujifilm Australia says the proven, service-friendly system will suit the market well. "There are already 320 Jet 520 installations around the world, and it has the advantage of being a product which available now," he says. Launched at DRUPA in 2008, the Truepress Jet520 prints on webs up to 520 mm wide at up to 128 metres/minute, its 720 x 720 dpi imaging resolution claimed to be the highest of any single-pass inkjet digital printing system. It was shown at Print '09 in Chicago in September. At DRUPA, the company showed a full twin-engine duplex line producing international newspapers including the 'Daily Mail', 'Le Monde', 'El Pais' and 'Asahi Shimbun' as well as books and other work, as well as a new single engine duplex which can print either the full 520 mm width of the machine on one side of the web or up to 250 mm on both sides. Fujifilm Australia sells the digital printing system as part of a broad graphic arts offering to newspapers, including plates and CTP systems. Choice will typically depend on focus, Krufczyk says, who can offer violet technology from Krause alongside the Screen thermal systems... both of which are teamed with Fujifilm plates and workflow.
