One of many independent newspapers launched after News Corp closed regional print titles in 2020, The Lockyer & Somerset Independent has now moved to upgrade systems with new ad booking technology.

The paper was formed with the support of local business owners after News turned the 64-year-old Gatton, Lockyer and Brisbane Valley Star into an online-only masthead.

A booking and layout system at the Independent made of Excel and Word files has now given way to Atex’s Cross-advertising booking and planning solution with customised MPP used in layout and initial design.

TLS Independent rural account manager Kate Jones is complimentary of the Atex solution, “delivered by knowledgeable staff who have no hesitation in ‘going the extra mile’ to ensure that you have the right tools to drive your business forward”.

Since its launch, the free paper in the heart of one of Australia’s wealthiest and most fertile agricultural regions has grown to be read by 64 per cent of residents, becoming the primary source of news, sport, property, entertainment and retail information in Gatton and its surrounding communities.
