A life member of both the NSW and Queensland Country Press Associations, Greg Watson has retired as secretary of the QCPA.

Until recently both secretary and treasurer of Queensland Country Press Association, he is retiring after a 61-year career in newspapers.

A member of a five-generation Australian newspaper and printing family, he joined the Queanbeyan Age as an apprentice in 1960, leaving to join family-owned newspaper Wilkie Watson in Tumut, NSW in 1965.

He worked for Rural Press (and later Fairfax Media) in a variety of regional locations from 1989-2008, latterly as regional group manager, then spending three years at the Beaudesert Times before returning to Fairfax Australian Community Media as business development manager.

Taking over from the start of 2022 is Brisbane-based Caroline Bick, who has worked previously in TV, state government ministerial offices, a council ward office and not-for-profit organisations.
