Press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer has launched an industry-specific solution for holistic energy management.

The scalable digital solution using VisuEnergy X software claims to collect and visualise data from all energy consumers in a company, enabling sustainable savings and supporting corporate responsibility.

Initially, the optimised energy management system – developed specifically for print and packaging – is being made available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with a global roll-out planned from next year.

Koenig & Bauer chief executive Andreas Pleßke says that with the industry, the company has “significant leverage” in shaping sustainable print production. “Sustainability is the greatest challenge of our time,” he says, “and as a company whose history extends back more than 200 years, we also bear responsibility for future generations.”

The energy management solution comprises elements for automated data recording, analysis visualisation and “the derivation of appropriate measures”.

The company claims average energy savings of seven to ten per cent are achievable from the first year.

The cloud-based solution is being offered on a subscription basis. It is the first product to be developed and brought to the market by a new digital unit at Koenig & Bauer.
