US newspaper publishers are being urged to rally in Washington for a parade event to support legislation to compensate them for the use of their content.
America’s News/Media Alliance even feels so strongly about the Support Journalism Parade being held from September 26-27, that they’re offering to help with expenses.
Members are being invited to register for the invitation-only event which includes an opportunity to meet with Congress members to reinforce the need for legislation compensating news publishers for the use of their content.
The Alliance – which is being supported by America’s Newspapers and the National Newspaper Association – will have meetings scheduled following an orientation to prepare members, and provide “talking points”. An app is being produced to help with the meeting schedule, topics and other details.
The Support Journalism parade reception and dinner is being held on Tuesday morning (September 26) with breakfast and briefing, and then the Capitol Hill advocacy visits planned for the following day.
N/MA is offering a travel stipend of up to US$1,000 to who would not be able to attend without financial assistance. Contact membership@newsmediaalliance.org with any questions.
