Press maker Koenig & Bauer has celebrated two notable anniversaries with a lunch for 100 national and international guests.

The year 2023 marks the 125th anniversary of its Radebeul plant, as well as 175 years in Austria through the business launched in 1848 as Maschinenfabrik Heinrich Löser.

In Maria Enzersdorf, where Koenig & Bauer (AT), is the second-largest company, celebrations included speeches from the mayor, Johann Zeiner, Koenig & Bauer chief executive Andreas Pleßke and the security printing-focussed Austrian subsidiary’s two managing directors, Rudolf Vogl and Robert Galik.

A party for employees was held the following day, with 1200 visitors welcomed to a “grand finale” and open day.

Vogl noted the “numerous changes and developments” which had taken place across the company’s 175 years. “In recent years special attention has been paid to cycle assembly, building on a new logistics and supply concept to make production processes as effective and efficient as possible. In this way, among other things, we want to achieve the sustainability goals we have set ourselves." CO2 neutrality at the site is the target by 2028,” he said.

Galik spoke of the “key issue” of training of skilled workers, with about 50 per cent of the technicians in Maria Enzersdorf being former apprentices.
