Swiss-based mailroom developer Ferag has opened a new engineering headquarters in Austria, leveraging expertise in the region.

The new location in Graz in Styria will focus expertise as system integrator and solution designer in one place, Ferag Engineering GRZ managing director Christian Klöckl-Greimel says.

The unit will directly support the central eastern Europe region, serving Germany and Austria, as well as Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia.

Ferag Engineering’s headquarters in the old town of Graz provide good infrastructure and central location, the cost-effectiveness of the building and a prestigious location.

Klöckl-Greimel says particular attention was paid to the needs of future employees, including public transport connections, shopping facilities and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. “The availability of sufficiently qualified employees was also a key factor in choosing the location in Graz,” he said.

The presence of leading scientific institutes, colleges and universities was also “a decisive aspect”. These include Graz University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences with their expertise in intralogistics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and software development.
