Czech News Center is expecting positive technical and financial results, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of its printing processes, following a Comet press upgrade.
One of Central Europe’s leading media houses – operating in Prague and Ostrava – CNC chose QI Press Controls’ latest mRC-3D colour register controls as an upgrade for a 2007 KBA Comet newspaper press at their Ostrava print location.
The current colour register system had been installed with the Koenig & Bauer press, and concerns over the aging technology included availability of spare parts and overall serviceability.
Technical and production director Bruno Schwarzbach says his familiarity with QIPC dates back to the original installation, when the choice of automation supplier was made by the press manufacturer. “However we certainly acknowledge the effective support and good cooperation we've experienced with QIPC over the years, making the upgrade choice a logical step.”
The upgraded system will play a crucial role in CNC's operations, with the press operating on three shifts, producing a significant volume of post-finished products.
“The upgraded system is expected to play a key role in maintaining high-quality output for our daily newspapers, magazines, books, and external commissions,” he says.
CNC publishes daily titles including Blesk, Sport, and Aha! as well as other printed and digital material. CNC periodicals have been printed at Prague and Ostrava since 1993, with coldset web presses of Koenig & Bauer and Wifag in use, along with sheetfed and bindery equipment.
