Press maker Koenig & Bauer is continuing to invest in training, with the recruitment of 103 apprentices and dual-study programme students.
The new generation of apprentices has been welcomed to the group’s sites in Germany and Austria, with the apprenticeship portfolio expanded to include new roles such as that of manufacturing metrologist in Mödling, Austria.
Chief executive Stephen Kimmich says training young talents is an important strategic pillar for the company's success. “We are investing in the next generation of skilled workers and experts,” he says.
“In a fast-changing industry, dedication and a spirit of innovation are essential to remain a technology leader. We are proud to support our apprentices on their journey and provide them with the best tools.”
Global human resources head Christine Bötsch says apprenticeship is a key component for fostering young talents. “Our apprentices receive a solid training and valuable practical experience. At the same time, we are strengthening our teams with qualified young professionals, thereby securing our company's long-term innovative strength and viability.”
Of the more than 100 young professionals, 45 started at Würzburg, where the vocational school is a valuable advantage for both apprentices and local teams, “at the heart of our dual apprenticeship and a decisive competitive advantage,” according to Würzburg technical apprenticeships head Manuel Eisenmann.
“Thanks to the close spatial and professional integration of theory and practice, we can optimally prepare our apprentices for the demands of our company. The lessons are tailored exactly to our products and technologies. This allows us to train future skilled workers with precision while also enabling a smooth transition into their professional lives. We have been following this path very successfully for more than 150 years.”
A new apprenticeship year began in Radebeul on August 11 with 37 apprentices in seven different professions, while one dual study student will start on October 1. Additionally, two apprentices and two dual study at K&B MetalPrint in Stuttgart, three at K&B Coding in Veitshöchheim, and 13 at Koenig & Bauer (AT) in Mödling, Austria, one of whom is being trained in production measurement technology, a newly-established apprenticeship.
Additionally, apprentices gain experience of various departments, and through exchange trips, seminars and stays abroad.
