Malaysian and Singaporean publishers are among winners in this year's WAN-Ifra XMA cross media awards, presented in Hamburg this evening.
Among the top prizes were Singapore Press Holdings' 'Fashion Season@Orchard 2010' and 'Kommuniti Cakna' from Malaysia's Kumpulan Karangkraf.
The awards honour companies using a mix of platforms - including print, web, mobile and video - to deliver editorial and advertising content in innovative ways.
This year's fifth awards focused on publishers who use multimedia to build relationships with local markets, encourage interactivity, and help advertisers create local campaigns.
"If you think and act beyond the limits of print, the local market offers an enormous revenue potential for newspapers," says XMA juror Meinolf Ellers, who is managing director of dpa-infocom/dpa-mediatec and co-leader of the WAN-Ifra 'goLocal' project.
"The XMA Awards provides impressive examples of how publishers worldwide start to exploit these opportunities by making the local customer the focus of their crossmedia strategies."
