German press maker manroland says sales of newspaper and heatset webs have contributed to sweeping successes in Greater China.

“It is great to see China’s economy continue to grow,” says regional managing director Adam Yuen. “Thanks to the significant support from our old and new customers, manroland Greater China has achieved huge business success in the sheetfed, webfed, printservices, and printcom sectors in 2010.”

Repeat orders contributed to a strong webfed sector:

• After working with four Uniset presses since 2004, Sichuan Ribao in Chengdu has recently opted for two similar presses. The new 80,000 cph presses are equipped with five reel splicers, four printing towers, and two folders and will start production in July 2011. A dryer enables heatset printing and thus enlarges Sichuan Ribao’s production possibilities.

• Hangzhou Daily Press Group added a Rotoman commercial web to be delivered at the end of March 2011. Their second Rotoman, it will join a stable which has included two Uniset presses and sheetfed equipment.

manroland says China Times has also committed to a web width reduction and PECOM upgrade.
