Flexible site avoids development costs

A new adaptive website for the Times of Oman is based on an offline CMS, enabling widgets and pages to be moved without a developer.

The new site by Layout International was built on top of the NewsPress editorial workflow, enabling editors to publish to several channels, with the click of a button. Management of elements including menus, widgets, pages and stories is done on the same system used for printed publications.

The site also embodies latest SEO practices, with search for related articles based on a semantic engine. Analytics are showing that since the launch of the new website, readers are spending twice the time they used to browsing the site, and Google page speed tests scored 99/100.

Project manager Ghassan Halawi says the company is proud of working with the team at Times of Oman, "especially editor-in-chief Scott Armstrong," and achieving great results. Now they're looking forward to the launch of the new www.shabiba.com site in a month's time.
