After hitting the headlines with a hard line of vaccinating staff, national airline Qantas has launched an emotional TV campaign offering rewards to encourage Australians to get the COVID-19 jab.

On offer are vouchers, points and mega prizes – with a choice of either 1000 points, 15 status credits or a $20 voucher – for fully-vaccinated frequent flyers.

Additionally, a draw offers the chance of year’s worth of flights, accommodation and fuel, with prizes for residents in each state and territory and two more national prizes.

Qantas Group chief executive Alan Joyce admits the airline has a “clear vested interest” in the success of the rollout, with international travel currently on hold. “For us, getting the vaccine rate up to 70 and 80 per cent means thousands of people can go back to work,” he says. “Getting vaccinated is an important step that every Australian can take that brings us that little bit closer to life as we knew it.”

The TVC is supported by a special version of Tones And I’s hit Fly Away.

Qantas is also offering meeting backgrounds for virtual meetings featuring the airline, plus free access to its signature soundtrack on Spotify and Apple Music.
