Two daily newspapers in southern Italy will use Miles 33's technology to create cloud-based, multi-channel newsroom systems.

Implementations at La Sicilia and La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno will be delivered by Italian system integrator and distributor GMDE, with GN4, TARK4 for archiving and VirtualCMS for web publishing running on GMDE's cloud server environment. Both were already using VirtualNewspaper for mobile, and this will be integrated into the new infrastructure, which will cater for 150 editorial users. The 'work anywhere' HTML5-based GNi4 client will also be used by editorial staff.

La Sicilia, published in Catania (Sicily), publishes nine local editions, and operates six remote sites across the island. Founded in 1887, Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno is located in Bari, on the southern mainland, and publishes seven different local editions from eight remote sites.

The project will culminate in the implementation of a full multichannel editorial publishing system for each of the newspapers to deliver content for paper, web and mobile devices. A second stage will see the addition of news management for TV and radio.
