Newsletters are back, and Australia's Fairfax Media is among the latest to trial "editor-curated" newsletters for its subscribers.

The Australian publisher of the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age is inviting its paid readership to try the service, which will go out under the names of editors-in-chief Darren Goodsir and Andrew Holden.

The 'Editor's Edition' promises insights into the week's news and a behind-the-scenes look at major issues. A survey will follow towards the end of the trial.

A similar service operates for paid readers of Fairfax's national daily Australian Financial Review, under the name of editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury.
