UK publisher Newbury Weekly News has added a range of Miles 33 advertising and production capabilities to its GN4 editorial system.

Gemstone advertising, production tracking and CMS3000 complete a full range of multichannel capabilities for the newspaper.

A near neighbour of Miles 33 in Berkshire, the publisher had previously implemented a multi-channel GN4 editorial content management system plus a VirtualCMS web publishing system, with the Gemstone implementation completing an across-the-board technology update at the paper.

Gemstone allows sales staff to sell and book classified and ROP ads, and also sell full digital ad campaigns thanks to it two-way integration with Google's DFP ad server.

Newbury chief executive James Gurney says one of his first goals on joining the company was to give staff the best possible solutions to deliver upon their personal targets. Online Ad inventory can be better planned and managed as Gemstone will automatically alert sales staff of inventory availability at booking time.

The award-winning weekly newspaper, covering Newbury and west Berkshire, was first published in 1867 and has been independently and family-owned since its establishment.

In 2007, it won awards for best website produced by a weekly newspaper, and newspaper website of the year, sharing the award with The Sun.
