There's more focus on the launch of Quebec's La Presse+ app with the upcoming Digital Media Asia address of president publisher Guy Crevier.

The US$40 million budget to develop the app has already attracted attention - digital products vice president Jean-Marc de Jonghe was a speaker at last Friday's Future Forum in Sydney - as has the accompanying decision to stop weekday print editions.

DMA delegates will have the opportunity to learn more at the WAN-Ifra event in Singapore from November 8-10.

The tablet edition - development of which was shared with the Toronto Star - whose editor Michael Cooke was also in Sydney - aims to blend the best of print media, web, mobile applications and video of the French language Canadian newspaper, with much of its content free to readers. The implementation has also been popular with advertisers, with CPMs higher than for its print version -from CA$ 42 for a print half-page to CA$ 68 on digital. By contrast, the traditional web carries CA$ 13-14 CPMs, and mobile yields CA$ 2-3.

As well as Crevier's insights, case studies from leading media brands in Asia and overseas, with confirmed speakers including Denise Law (community editor of The Economist), Nick Petrie (deputy head of digital at The Times & Sunday Times), Chris Lee (chief executive of the USA's Deseret Media Digital), Tan Lee Chin (chief content officer of MCIL Multimedia), Mark Rogers (APAC vice president for multimedia sales and integrated marketing at Dow Jones), Xavier Grangier (head of digital and chief technology officer of France's Libération), Christina Lo (chief executive of Stakk Factory), Warren Fernandez (editor in chief English & Malay Newspapers at Singapore Press Holdings), Renée Kaplan (head of audience engagement at the Financial Times) and Guillaume Sachet (head of strategic planning at MediaCorp).

The event is at the Orchard Hotel in Singapore from November 8-10, with presentation of the Asian Digital Awards on the evening of November 9. More details from http://events.wan-ifra.org/events/digital-media-asia-2016
