South Asia digital awards entries open Monday

WAN-Ifra takes its South Asian Digital Media Awards to Chennai this year, with winners again going on to the global competition.

Entries in this second competition - which recognises the best works in digital publishing in the south Asian region - open next Monday (May 1).

The awards are now held in four regions - South Asia, Asia, Middle East, Europe and Latin America. Last year, regional winner manoramaonline.com also won the World Digital Media Award for 'Best news website'.

This year, the entries are invited for:

Best News Website

Best Lifestyle, Sports or Entertainment Website

Best News Mobile Service

Best Lifestyle, Sports or Entertainment Mobile Service

Best Use of Online Video

Best Data Visualisation Project

Best Innovation New Product

Best Social Media Engagement

Best Digital Advertising Campaign

The award is open to all news publishers in South Asia, and entries - to be judged by an international jury - must have been published between July 1 2016 and June 9 2017. Winners will be recognised at the WAN-Ifra India Conference in Chennai in September, with awards presented at a ceremony on September 13. Nearly 400 delegates from more than 20 countries are expected to attend the conference.
