After expanding with the acquisition of Scienta last month, WoodWing is growing again with the addition of Xtendis developer Expansion.
Chief executive Ross Paterson says the deal enriches Woodwing’s product portfolio with additional cloud-based content management capabilities and a stronger position in the enterprise information management market.
For Expansion it delivers the opportunity to scale its Xtendis platform internationally. The information management platform is used to store and organise business-critical content, and make it easily accessible, given an ability to connect and integrate with “almost every primary business application”. Examples are digital client or employee files, managing financial statements, invoice processing and quality or record management.
Expansion is headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands with its more than 250 customers mainly in financial services, industry, wholesale, education, healthcare and logistics.
Plans are to expand Expansion’s strong position in the Dutch market through WoodWing’s global presence and reseller partner network.
“After adding Scienta’s content management and knowledge sharing capabilities to the group earlier this year, we see the addition of Expansion as a great next strategic step in further building an international leading content orchestration player,” says Paterson.
Founder and chief executive of Expansion Johan Blank looks forward to “spread our wings and fly away” with hopes of taking Xtendis to the rest of Europe and the US. “Being part of the WoodWing family will also enable us to offer broader solutions to our current and future customers,” he says.
Key management of Expansion will stay on board and will hold an equity stake in the business combination.
