After its deal a fortnight ago with Epic Digital, The Brag Media is on a roll, acquiring The Music Network and planning a local print launch of Variety magazine.

As a result, Poppy Reid is promoted to editor in chief, and TMN owner publisher Jake Challenor becomes The Brag Media’s B2B executive editor, responsible for editorial direction of The Industry Observer, TMN, and “future trade titles”.

Our favourite music newsletter, TMN was launched by artist manager John Woodruff as a print news-sheet 27 years ago, and was bought by Challenor in 2017.

With its acquisition by The Brag Media, TMN maintains its music business focus, while TIO will cover the recovering Australian live music sector. Subscribers have started receiving one daily newsletter, called Music Biz Observer, with access to an expanded jobs portal, called Brag Jobs.

Reid was previously editor of TMN before joining The Brag Media in 2017.

  • An agreement for Australian Variety will see The Brag Media contributing local film, TV and theatre content for an initial quarterly edition.

The company also publishes Rolling Stone Australia and Tone Deaf.
