PressReader co-founder Alexander Kroogman has moved to a new role as executive director with the appointment of Ruairí Doyle as chief executive.

Doyle (pictured) joined PressReader as general manager and R&D lead five years ago, establishing the digital editions company’s EMEA office in Ireland. He later relocated to Vancouver as the vice president of product, and most recently as senior vice president of product and operations.

Doyle was previously with Google and Irish publisher Independent News & Media. Kroogman described him as “an inspiring leader and the right person to take PressReader into its next growth phase”.

“Working alongside him for the past five years, I have seen first-hand how he earns the trust and respect of our teams, customers and stakeholders.”

Kroogman says building PressReader from the ground up and witnessing its growth over the past 23 years has been “the gift of a lifetime”. He paid tribute to the contribution of the company’s “wildly talented, fun and creative” 500-strong team across Canada, Ireland, the Philippines and the US.

With brands including Branded Editions and TextBookHub, PressReader has customers publishing more than 14,000 newspapers, magazines, and educational publications from 150 countries.
