Former AWS solution architect Michele Alessandrini will lead a new Atex cloud competence centre as chief technology officer.

He will report to chief executive Federico Marturano.

A former senior solution architect at Amazon Web Services, Alessandrini is moving to Atex from Yoox Net-A-Porter, where he was head of technology, cloud adoption and governance after a decade of working on business-related cloud architectures.

Atex says the new division will leverage a dedicated team and bring incremental knowledge and innovation. It will define and implements patterns and architectures that will enable new business models in line with customer needs and a constantly changing market.

Marturano said the new cloud competence centre would become a landmark for companies in the media industry. Alessandrini’s competencies “will lead Atex to improve our solutions’ architectures, achieving higher standards of cost efficiency, security, scalability and sustainability”.

• Italian multimedia publisher Class Editori is brining its magazines onto Atex Desk, having already used it for newspapers Milano Finanza and Italia Oggi. The company also operates news agencies, radio, guides and specialised publications, Class CNB thematic channels, Go TV and platforms for financial services, corporate TV and radio.

Desk is a web-based solution covering the whole content production lifecycle via customisable workflows. Class Editori aims to centralise all its different editorial assets and make them available to all newsrooms through a single web interface.
