Two big names in photography are getting together to launch a course in photojournalism.

The Spéos International Photography School is partnering Agence France-Presse for a training programme for about 15 students, taught in English, starting next September.

AFP – which has a network of 450 photographers around the world – says the programme combines the excellence of the practical teaching at Spéos with its own expertise, offering students the opportunity to specialise in news photojournalism.

The year-long course will take place five days a week, with four days spent at Spéos and one working with the AFP teams.

AFP will organise talks by leading professionals, master classes with renowned AFP photographers, and themed workshops designed to give students real-life professional experience, leading to an end-of-year project.

Founded in 1985, Spéos has for several years been ranked in the Top Five of the world’s best photography schools by various independent rankings. It was behind the creation of the Musée-Maison Nicéphore Niépce, and is associated with equipment distributor Prophot and the Quai de la Photo floating art centre (pictured) in Paris.
